Process of decorating a surface by covering it - usually completely - with paste colours (or coloured starch mixture) and decorate it. The decoration is made through the resulting alteration of the coloured paste with a tool or the hand while still wet. This technique is mainly used to produce paste paper, but can also be found on bookblock edges, using similar decorative patterns.
